About HSJ Heli
HSJ Heli — Himalayan Social Journey — is Nepal's trusted helicopter operator for scenic tours, emergency rescue, medical evacuation, and insurance assistance services. CAAN-certified. On the ground 24 hours a day.
Our Story
HSJ Heli was founded in 2010 by a team of pilots and operators who understood Nepal's mountains from the inside. We were not a travel company that added helicopters — we started as aviators and built a service operation around what Himalayan flying actually demands.
In 2015, the Gorkha earthquake tested us and our team. We flew continuous relief missions into collapsed villages when no road access existed. That experience hardened our emergency protocols, our hospital relationships, and our understanding of what speed means when people's lives depend on a helicopter.
Today, we operate scenic tours for travellers, 24/7 rescue services for trekkers, and a full-service insurance assistance desk for international partners — all from the same base in Kathmandu, with the same pilots and the same commitment to getting it right.
Four principles that govern every flight, every call, every case.
Every decision — from weather holds to aircraft maintenance schedules — is made with safety as the only non-negotiable. We have maintained a zero-accident record since founding.
In emergencies, minutes matter. Our 60-minute dispatch target and pre-established hospital relationships exist because speed saves lives.
We know Nepal's terrain, weather windows, hospitals, and trekking routes intimately. That knowledge is what separates a local operator from a remote coordinator.
We don't outsource critical functions. Our pilots, case managers, and ground team are HSJ staff — directly accountable to you and your policyholders.
All operations are certified and monitored by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and maintained to international ICAO standards.
Fleet
The H125 is the helicopter of choice for high-altitude Himalayan operations. Its single Turbomeca Arriel 2D engine delivers exceptional power at altitude, enabling operations at and above 6,000m — routinely flown to Everest Base Camp and beyond.
Whether you're planning a tour, need an emergency contact, or want to establish a formal insurance partnership — our desk is open.
